Three New Restaurants and Chefs Coming to Central London
It’s been an exciting few weeks for the Central London food scene. Two new exciting restaurants are opening in Nine Elms and the Battersea Arts Centre has named their next executive chef.
Robin Gill’s Darby’s
Residents of the new Embassy Gardens have much to be excited about, including the floating sky pool that has captivated many (the image above is what it will look like). Now it has been revealed that Irish Masterchef Robin Gill will be opening a new restaurant called Darby’s on the tenth floor of the building. Gill’s new venue will also include a poolside bar.
Gill’s new restaurant will focus on Irish cuisine and cooking and will include live-fire cooking, adding drama to an already exciting development project. Even if you’re not visiting the restaurant, you’ll likely be able to smell the delicious aroma from away.
POTUS
With a name like POTUS, Pablo Peñalosa Najera’s new restaurant near the new US Embassy in Nine Elms will surely turn heads. Opening today, the new restaurant is expected to celebrate all things Americana and the change of American identity during the tenure of 45 presidents.
Dishes will evoke the different regional tastes of the United States. You can find a classic New England (Boston) clam chowder, a seasonal New Orleans dessert called bananas foster, and a San Francisco fish stew that will smell and taste like that city’s famous Fisherman’s Wharf.
Battersea arts center’s new executive chef
The Battersea Arts Centre is a long-standing cultural venue in South London, presenting modern shows and Shakespearean classics. Housed in a historic Victorian town hall and recently renovated, the BAC has also hired Nigel James to be the new executive chef for their public Scratch Bar and to cater for the estimated 40,000 audience members that come through the BAC for events every season. James’ focus is on food that is delicious but still nutritious and healthy. He has worked in London restaurants like The Admirable Crichton, The Packed Saddle, and Detox Kitchen.
