“Our Nine Elms US embassy is the most advanced we’ve ever built”, US ambassador Johnson recently discussed in his article in the Evening Standard amidst the controversy of the US President canceling his trip for the official embassy inauguration in London.
Undeniably, the new US embassy in Nine Elms and adjacent to Battersea Power Station is the most secure, hi-tech, and environmentally friendly embassy that the United States has ever built. The £750 million “glass cube” on the banks of river Thames was designed by Philadelphia-based architects Kieran Timberlake, took four years to complete, and will replace the embassy on Grosvenor Square, Mayfair, which will be transformed into a luxury hotel in a £1bn revamp.
