Miami International Film Festival returns for 36th year
One of Miami’s biggest events of the year starts next week, the Miami International Film Festival.
A major film festival in the United States, this cultural event is one of the big film festivals on the circuit, with a special focus on international films from Central and South America.
This year is the 36th edition of the festival, with over 160 films from more than 40 countries on offer, with the socially relevant documentary This Changes Everything as the opening night showcase. A mix of movie premieres, experimental art house films, documentaries and short movies are shown every year.
Acclaimed movies like Beast, Vice and Shoplifters will be featured at this year’s event, with Beast being the North American premiere.
The MIFF is part of a series of events promoting Downtown Miami, with the two main venues, the Olympia Theater and the Silverspot Cinemas, within easy access to major downtown hotels and restaurants. Other venues are scattered in other downtown areas, like Little Havana and the Design District.
New this year is Knight Heroes, a program with three films by new filmmakers from the South Florida region, including Miami. There is also a program focusing on fashion in film, Chinese movies shown in Chinatown and even a special program for children, with beautiful animation.
The Miami International Film Festival runs from March 1 to 10. Interested in investing in the South Florida market? Copperstones is the exclusive UK agent for the Aston Martin Residences in Downtown Miami. Contact us today to learn about your options.
