Battersea Power Station’s great glass elevator revealed
Battersea Power Station has revealed the jewel in its chimney tower crown: the glass elevator experience.
The Chimney Lift, which will open with the rest of the newly revived Power Station in 2021, will give visitors a view of London from a unique perspective. Battersea’s new observation elevator, at 109 metres, will have a clear 360° view of Greater London.
The experience, lasting half an hour, is described as being inspired by the glass elevator from Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
While the lift has always been known, we now know that it will be located within the northwest chimney. All of the power station’s iconic chimneys were demolished and rebuilt from the ground up, using the same building methods used decades ago. The chimneys were also painted the same colour as the originals.
Two new entertainment venues are also joining Battersea Power Station’s variety of restaurant, shopping and office spaces.
The Venue is set to be south Central London’s new premier cultural venue. Set within the iconic structure, it is made up of flexible spaces that can host a wide range of events from fashion shows, concerts and product launches. With a 1,500 seat “Event Box” and Apple’s new United Kingdom headquarters, maybe one day a future iPhone or Apple innovation will be launched to the world.
You can feel like you’re in control from Control Room A, restored to the 1930s Art Deco standard, overlooking the main Turbine Hall. Featured in movies like The King’s Speech and Monty Python and The Meaning of Life, the balconies and glass bays can be used separately or as part of the Event Box and can seat 250 people.
With these public venues and entertainments opening soon, it’s not too late to buy a home at Battersea for your family or future investment. To learn more, contact Copperstones at +44 203 888 5555 or 08 445 555 555.
